Government confirms NET Phase Two conditional approval and WPL order 31/07/2009

NET Phase Two - the proposed extension to Nottingham's tram network - is now within touching distance of becoming reality. During a visit to Nottingham on Friday 31 July, Sadiq Khan MP (Minister of State for Transport) announced Conditional Approval for the project. NET Phase Two is the collective term for the project to build extensions to Line One of Nottingham Express Transit (NET). The Project is managed jointly by the promoters of NET - the City Council and County Council.

There are two extensions currently in development; they are Chilwell via Queens Medical Centre (QMC) & Beeston, and Clifton via Wilford.

These routes have been chosen for development following extensive feasibility studies, unprecedented levels of public consultation, and project development work over a number of years by a team made up of City and County Council Officers and specialist consultants .
